Webb6 aug. 2024 · The 67-68 Camaro big block engine came with the short water pump and came with the alternator mounted on top of the engine on the driver's side. To me the belt was too long and the top bracket was unstable. Maybe this and the alternator not having a deep groove pulley was the cause of it slinging the belt. I forget the year the chevy went to the long pumps but I think it was in the early sixties.
