WebTechnically you can do position hold with either GPS or optical flow. However, combined will perform much better. If cost is a concern here, I'd recommend starting with a GPS + compass. It will allow you to do hover hold and a whole host of other autonomous behaviors (return to home, GPS-waypoint missions, etc.).
